Ultimately they opened a separate support ticket with their operations department (a non-public facing department) who had me try a few different things before discovering a simple fix. I suspected my ISP, but this suspicion was based on little hard data. It was unclear at that point if the issue resided on my end, on theirs, or with Filezilla.
I worked with my ISP () and website host's support personnel a few times but without success. Anyone have experience using this? From what I read, you can use it without entering a username and password, which seems odd to me. I read a bit about it on (which directs you to its github page, including FAQs lower down the page). One last thing: I looked through Synaptic to see what other FTP clients may be available (graphic interface only) and the only thing I found was gFTP. Has anyone encountered this issue and if so, how did you fix it? Any ideas of what the issue might be? However, this is neither a good nor a long term solution. I then called my ISP (who hosts my files for my websites) and we worked to try to figure things out. Status: Connection attempt failed with "ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted". After entering my data (Host, username, password) as usual I clicked on the correct "Quickconnect" menu entry as I've always done, but repeatedly got an error message, with the critical info copied below:Įrror: GnuTLS error -8: A packet with illegal or unsupported version was received.
